It was around mid October Katie first got in touch with us, to inquire about a maternity and newborn session. Since I myself was 7 months pregnant with our third boy, it wasn’t sure whether I would be able to photograph her maternity session. Lucky there’s two of us in our team so David could take over when needed.
And so happened that early January David drove to the Oud Begijnhof in Leuven to capture this lovely couples’ maternity session. Little Juliette, their two year old baby girl, joined in on the photoshoot fun. The love between these lovely people was so beautiful to see. And it showed in the pictures. I could even sense it when editing and I hadn’t even been there at the photoshoot.
It wasn’t the first time we took pictures at the Old Begijnhof. We were there before for weddings, and engagement sessions. But it never disappoints. It’s one of the most beautiful places in Leuven, no matter what season you’re in. I guess that’s one of the things I love most about Belgium, the ancient places you can find all over the country. A bit of well kept history for us to witness today and hopefully for many years to come.
There’s something magical about a maternity session. The anticipation, the pregnancy glow, the unconditional love a woman has for her unborn child from the very first start. It was all there. Katie was glowing and little Juliette was over the moon excited. I bet those two little sisters will become best friends very quickly.
Dear Katie and Luke, thank you so much for allowing us to witness this special moment in your life. We loved every minute of it and are smitten with little Juliette. We can’t wait to see you again and meet your baby girl!
